The most beautiful place on Earth
I just finished a painting that originated from a visit to Lake Attersee in the Austrian Alps. In the early 1900s, the great Austrian painter, Gustav Klimpt, used to spend his summers on Lake Attersee, and he created many fine paintings of the lake and surroundings. In May 2012, I paid a taxi driver 90 euros to make the 30 minute drive from Salzburg. He drove around the lake, stopping at various points to let me shoot photos. I was able to find some of the very spots where Klimpt made his paintings, over 100 years earlier. It truly is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I tipped the driver 10 euros, and he seemed to be a happy man.
